I've found a video by Professor Adrian Franklin who talks about “chair trilogy” by bringing us to the end of the 20th century and the NGV collection.

Its worth a look while doing the assignment if we cant remember the trip to NGV :P

Esquisse three







































This esquisse require us to design a locking system from what we have learned in previous studio classes. I decided to go with locking system but playing with forms. due to the limitation of material i couldn't design something that is long in shape, so therefore i decided to play with stacking and slotting.

During my experiments, i was taught that by scoring the piece of cardboard will weaken the structure, so therefore i have fold it to create the bottom part. I also doubled the cardboard for the bottom just to make it stronger, and the final product feels very solid.

Esquisse two-Understanding form


This exercise is to understand form and geometry in the design process. We were given a 10mm x-board to construct a 5 side pyramid 100x100x100mm.

during this exercise we are challenged to work out the measurements of the side of the pyramid, accuracy of the angle in order to fold them properly into a pyramid.







Esquisse one-Understanding material


Exercise one -an introduction to the cardboard material, understand its structure and
learning the basic techniques to create 90 degree angle, 45 degree angle, curved corners and self locking system.

Below are images of my exploration to the cardboard itself.
This open ended cube 100x100x100mm will have a different folding technique in each corner.
